Stirling Castle is one of the main visitor attractions in Scotland and it offers a great insight to Scottish history that all the family will enjoy. The castle is perhaps best known by many as home of the Stuart Kings and Mary Queen of Scots, but it has served many different purposes throughout the centuries and visitors today have the chance to find out more and explore the castle’s battlements, The Royal Palace, Great Hall, Royal Chapel, Renaissance courtyards and even its kitchens.

The Royal Apartment Palace Vaults seem geared towards younger visitors, with different themes in each room and plenty to see and do with the hope of engaging younger minds.  The various themes range from the musician’s vault, where you can  recreate 16th century inspired sounds, to the Tailors Vault where you get the chance to try on period costumes. You will need to spend around half a day to get the best from your visit.

The castle is located at: Castle Esplanade, Stirling. FK8 1EJ.
