Visit Hartlebury Castle and Museum in Worcestershire, home to the Bishops of Worcester for over a thousand years.
The castle houses the books of Bishop Heard who was said to be Queen Victoria’s favourite Bishop. The queen was reported to have said that the Bishop hand the finest legs in tights of any man.
However, the castle is no longer used by Bishops due to cost of the upkeep of the building, but it is open to visitors who are given guided tours of the magnificent building.
The first building on the site was built in the 13th century as a castle fortress for the then Bishop of Worcester. A new castle was built in the 17th century in the style of stately home that you can see today.
